LIB read treats an imported long-form file as a book to keep reading, not as a one-time translation job. Supported files go into your private My Library, where chapters, source text, bilingual text, reading position, and bookmarks stay organized together.
Direct answer
You can import TXT, EPUB, DOCX, and text-based PDF files, open the detected chapters in the Reader, and read the source alongside a selected translation. The original remains available and your place is saved for the next session.
My Library import requires an account. Only import content you have the right to store and translate.
WHAT LIB READ DOES
Imported content is organized as a work with chapters or reading units so you can navigate a long novel instead of reopening a flat translated file.
Bilingual mode adds translated text without replacing the original, preserving access to both versions while you read.
Reading position, bookmarks, and chapter navigation reduce the need to find your place again when a book takes days or weeks to finish.
The same reading view can provide sentence matching, contextual word and expression explanations, and browser read-aloud.
AI translation uses a work-level glossary for names, proper nouns, organizations, and world-specific terms together with bounded previous-episode context. Authors can adjust and lock glossary translations, but perfect consistency or human-level quality is not guaranteed.
The source work stays canonical. Readers can use Original, Bilingual, or Translation only without creating a separate copy of the work for each language.
A public AI translation is saved for its episode, source language, target language, and source version, then reused when those conditions match instead of being regenerated for every reader.
Authors control AI translation and Human translation permissions independently. Human translation does not call OpenAI or consume AI allowance or credits, and it appears as a translation source only when a published Human translation exists.

Select a TXT, EPUB, DOCX, or text-based PDF that you are allowed to store and translate.
Open a detected chapter or reading unit and turn on bilingual reading with the translation language you want.
Stop at any point and return later using the saved reading position, bookmarks, and the work's chapter list.
WHY PARALLEL READING
The goal is not to replace the book with a translation-only output. The original stays available beside the translation in the Reader.
The imported content remains organized by chapters or reading units, making navigation practical for a long novel.
Bookmarks and reading position persist across sessions, so the workflow is continuous reading rather than repeated file conversion.
